San Francisco: One more activist of A.LS.S.F has been granted political asylum by an immigration judge.
Judge Phillip Lead better gave asylum to Paramjit Singh Narang on the grounds that he had well-founded fear of persecution in India according to Mohinder Singh the Attorney for Narang. This is the third case in which a Judge has granted asylum to a client of Mohinder Singh.
Narang arrived in San Francisco on November 1, 1988 and was arrested for traveling on another person’s passport.
In his testimony Narang narrated his tale of woe. He stated that he is a member of A.LS.S.F who is opposed to the present government.
He deposed that he was arrested a number of times and each time he was beaten and tortured. He was kept in filthy area, was abused kicked and hanged upside down: In jail his hair was pulled and was made to stand on one leg for hours together.
On April 13th 1988 miss visiting a Gurdwara in Delhi along with his father and a cousin, their hair was cut by a Hindu mob with dirty water at a place very close to the police station in broad daylight. He further stated his cousin was arrested and he was killed near Ludhiana in an encounter.
