STOCKTON: On a call by the World Sikh Organization Sikhs gathered in all major metropolitan centers in North America to protest against India’s continued repression of the Sikhs in India on June _ 6, the sixth anniversary of Operation Blue star.

The holiest Sikh shrine the Golden Temple was attacked with artillery and tanks six years ago. Over 20,000 Sikh men, women and children died in the attack.

Reports of demonstrations have come in from Chicago, New York, Washington, Vancouver and several other cities in Canada.

 SAN FRANCISCO: The Sikhs of northern California demonstrated in front of the Indian consulate here.

The 300 odd demonstrators who gathered in the adjoining park marched to the Indian consulate having placards in their hands and raising anti-India slogans. They raised full throated slogans while standing in front of barricaded Indian consulate. Through their slogans the demonstrators praised the martyrdom of Sant Bhindranwale, Bhai Amrik Singh, General Shubeg Singh S. Beant Singh, S. Satwant Singh, S. Kehar Singh and other shahids. They also raised slogans in favor of establishment of Khalistan.

The call for this demonstration ‘was jointly given by World Sikh Organization Babbar Khalsa International and some other Sikh organization.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon, president of World Sikh Organization USA declared that the Sikh nation could never submit to the repression and oppression of Hindu imperialist’s of the Indian govt. He outlined the historical facts that whenever fundamentalist and cruel rulers tried to suppress the Sikhs they always fought back bravely, WSO. Chief declared that the Sikhs will continue their present struggle till their goal i.e. establishment of Khalistan is not achieved.

Dr. Gurinder Singh Grewal president of WSN declared that Sikhs will continue to arrange such like demonstration on this day till the achievement of Khalistan. He said that the barbaric attack on Golden

Temple was preplanned and executed in a carefully orchestrated manner on that fateful occasion thousands of innocent men, women and children were brutally killed but still Indian govt succeeded at that time in making the world believe that it was a campaign to flush out “terrorists”. It was through a campaign of disinformation by govt of India which the Sikhs living abroad will never allow again, Dr. Grewal declared.

Bhai Gurmeet Singh Khalsa paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid their lives to keep the sanctity of the Sikh shrines and to achieve the objective of Khalistan. He also supported his argument from the pages of Sikh history that Sikhs will never submit to the acts of tyranny and cruelty of the rulers.

  1. Didar Singh Bains, ex-president of WSO International called upon the Sikh community to continue to support the militant movement till the demand of Khalistan is not fulfilled.

Bhai Gurmeet Singh Wallis President of Sikh Youth Federation of America and Bhai Pannu also paid tributes to the martyrs and stressed. Upon the unity in the ranks of Sikh ‘organizations.

Bhai Mohinder Singh Grewal and Bhai Gurcharan Singh Zakhni recited poems, paying tributes to the martyrs.

At the demonstration in Dumont Circle, Washington DC. Congressman Ben Blaz reaffirmed his position first voiced over a year ago on the House floor: Khalistan is the only solution to the Punjab problem.” To date there is the bipartisan support of 50 cosponsors for a bill in the US Congress numbered H.R. 4 641 which will cut off all developmental aid to India until it allows Amnesty International within its borders to investigate the human rights violations that plague the Sikh people and the Kashmiris as they too fight to escape the shackles of oppression from the Indian government.

Dr. Aulakh vehemently emphasized, “the Indian government must realize that it cannot prevent a people from attaining its God given right of freedom. Oppression will never stop the brave and dedicated Sikhs and it will also prove ultimately ineffective against the Kashmiris. He said, “We do not want any more violence, but at the same time I can assure the Indian nation that Khalistan and Kashmir will be free. The declaration of Khalistan is irreversible, irrevocable and non-negotiable.”
