ISLAMABAD; VP Singh’s stern warning to Pakistan on Tuesday has evoked a strong reaction in Pakistani media.
In the Indian Parliament on Tuesday, VP Singh ridiculed Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s talk of a thousand year war for the northernmost Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir and said that if Pakistan forced conflict on India “we will not stop till we have achieved our objectives.”
Pakistani Daily, “Dawn” said “Pakistan did not seek war but should India choose to inflict one, Islamabad will not be found wanting in an adequate response to such a challenge.”
The pro government “Pakistani Times” said “India must recognize that Pakistan’s profoundest sympathies are always bound openly and unapologetically to be with whatever resistance occurs against its occupation of Kashmir.”
“The Muslim” said “It would be ironical if we need the troops to patrol the streets of Karachi when they are required to defend the national frontiers.
The Frontier Post said “if there is an Indo Pak war, the last people to benefit from it will be Kashmiris.
