ALIGARH: Muslim scholars in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) here while condemning the killing of the Kashmir University vice chancellor Prof Mushir Ul Haq have held the JK governor Jagmohan responsible for the deteriorating situation in the Kashmir valley. Prof A.Z. Amani of the department of geography said “‘as a concerned citizen of this country I am shocked by the recent killings of Prof Haq. The situation calls for strong and decisive action against all who are indulging in such acts. However I strongly feel that repressive and cohesive measures, such as those which are presently being unleashed by Mr Jagmohan have taken Kashmir to a state of catastrophe. The manner and duration of the imposition of curfew in Srinagar bears grim testimony to the failure of the government machinery. Such measures may bring some short term results but are doomed for failure.”
