AHMEDABAD: One person was killed and six others were injured in Hindu, Muslim clashes at Nani Chirai village in Gujarat police said.

Police fired 14 rounds in the air to disperse the clashing groups after cane charge proved futile.

The incident followed an altercation between two groups at a “Qawali” program organized on the occasion of “Urs” at Motapir Tomb at the village.

As many as 16 policemen and six others were injured in the stone throwing. A government jeep was also damaged in the incident.

Meanwhile in Patan town of Mehsana district, one person was killed and two others were injured when some unidentified persons hurled explosive material at them during curfew relaxation period police said.
