CHANDIGARH: National gold medalist Manjit Singh of Chandigarh bettered both the national and the meet records in the air rifle (Indian rules) event in the men’s section as well as in the junior section of the 25th Punjab State Rifle Shooting Championships at the Patali Rao ranges,
He scored 323 out of 400 points in both categories.
The previous men’s national record was held by R.M Debnath of West Bengal set at Ahmedabad last year at 306/400 points. The State meet record was set by Manbir Bains at 285/400 last year.
Manjit also improved his own record of 307/400 ponts which he achieved in the junior boys section in the last nationals. The existing meet record in this section was held by Sukhbir with 247/400 points,
IN the women’s section, Kushal Pal Kaur won a second goal with 21400, points in the air rifle event. Santosh Kumari and Ravinder Bhatia took the silver and bronze medals with 144 and 90 points, respectively.
