CHANDIGARH: Four persons were killed and three others injured while the Security forces arrest 13 militants and recovered some arms and ammunition from them during the past 24 hours in Punjab.
Raghu Nath was killed and three others were injured when gunmen opened fire on a car in which they were travelling on the outskirts of Bhikhiwind in Tarn Taran police district this morning. The injured Gurcharan Singh, Ashok Kumar and Manish Kumar were admitted to SGTB Hospital of Amritsar.
Gunmen shot down Nazar Singh alias Dials at a dera in Dhan Singh Khanna Village in Bathinda district last night.
A horse belonging to a militant group and a villager were killed in an encounter near Kandiwind village in Tarn Taran police district. One Chinese AK47 assault rifle one 315 bore rifle and 114 cartridges were allegedly recovered from the spot.
The police said four persons on horses fired at security men who returned the fire.
One person was strangled to death by unidentified persons at Sudawali under Dera Baba Nanak police station in Gurdaspur district last night.
The police identified the deceased as Dilbagh Singh alisa Sohan Singh.
Gunmen kidnapped two sons of the sarpanch of Fatehgarh Panjfoor village, Mr. Girdhari Lal, while they were returning home on a scooter. The vehicle was later found abandoned on the Zira Kotisekhan road.
There was no trace of the two identified as Gobind Ram and Laxmi Narain till this evening, a report from Ferozepore said.
The Tarn Taran police arrested six militants since last night and recovered some arms and ammunition from them.
Four militants identified as Mohinder Singh, Baldev Singh Major Singh and Dalbir Singh were arrested near Pandori Golan village this morning and one.12 bore gun, a country made pistol and some ammunition were recovered from their possession.
‘The Hoshiarpur police arrested seven militants after an encounter near Abala Jattan village under Tanda police station last night.
They were identified as Ajit Singh, Narinder Singh alisas Bihhu Jaswinder Singh Tirath Singh Suba Singh, Shiv Singh and Resham Singh.
Three .12 bore country made pistols, two .12 bore double barrel guns and one .38 caliber foreign made revolver, besides ammunition were allegedly recovered from them.
