KAMMIBISLA, daughter of Sukhdev Singh and Gian Kaur Bisla of Linden, California and granddaughter of the late Captain Dr. Udham Singh Bisla of Apra, Jullundur, Punjab, is a graduating senior at Linden High School! who plans to attend Stanford University in the fall of 1987. Kammi is graduating valedictorian of her class with a 4.06 grade point average. She has received the following scholarship monies: Dr. Fried Berger Memorial Scholarship, $2,000; Holden Group Essay Contest, $500; American Molding and Mill Scholarship $500; Polly Stewart Memorial Scholarship, $500; Judy Wagner Bush Memorial Scholarship, $100; Margarit IL. Hansen Memorial Scholarship, $100; and the California English Student, Honorary Science Student, Most Outstanding Economics Plaque in Science and Mathematics, Outstanding Mathematic Student, Mastery of Foreign Language (Spanish) and Jostens Leadership Foundation semifinalists.
Kammi’s school life has been very busy also. She participated in four years of Junior Varsity and Varsity athletics in the following sports: volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was captain of her softball team. Her volleyball team won the Division 111 SacJoaquin Section Championship. Ka mi served as editor in chief of the yearbook and reporter and editor of the school’s newspaper. She was Student Body Treasurer, Quill and Scroll. President and California Scholarship Federation Secretary
Treasurer. Kammi was one of the 1500 applicants to be chosen from the 16,000 that applied to Stanford. She plans to major in Biological Sciences and peruse a medical career after her graduate studies, She is eagerly waiting the fall to begin her studies at Stanford.
GURSIMRIT SINGH BUTTAR s/o Sardarni and Sardar Amarjit Singh Bhuttar was awarded the Presidential Fitness Academic Award of academic excellence on June 17, 1987 at the Vernon Center Middle School, Ct.
In recognition of his scholastic achievement, his name has been placed on the General Honor Roll.
