OTTAWA, Canada: Dr. Rajni Kothari a well-known political scientist is visiting U.S.A. from March 24 till mid-April. This trip has been organized by the committee for human rights in India. He has been invited to participate in a conference at Princeton University from March 30th to April 3rd.
Dr. Kothari has agreed to visit New York, Chicago, San Francisco (Berkeley), Toronto, Halifax, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and possibly some other cities to meet the people of Indian origin and speak on contemporary issues affecting India, i.e.:
- Why Punjab is burning.
- Politics of Communalism.
- Human rights in India.
- Political climate in India of
Rajiv Gandhi.
- Evolution of grass root organization in India.
Dr. Kothari is a Professor of Political Science in Delhi University as well as Director of the Centre of Developing Societies in Delhi. He is author of many books and articles on India. He is also on the editorial board of many international journals. Dr. Kothari is one of the founders of Loayan, an umbrella organization of Grass Roots in India. He received an award of the Right Livelihood Prize, a sort of alternate Nobel Prize set up by a Swedish German writer Jacob Von Uexkull. He is also the President of Peoples Union for Civil Liberties and author of “Who Are The Guilty”.
