DARJEELING: The Gorkha National Liberation Front Chief, Subhash Geishing has said that he was confident that Gorkha state would be created by May this year.
There was no alternative for the Prime Minister but to create a Gorkhaland and it would materialize most certainly by May, reiterating that the Gorkhaland movement was not secessionist. G.N.L.F. Chief said that statehood was being demanded under Article III of the Constitution and there was no substance in the accusation made to Rajiv Gandhi by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr. Jyoti Basu. How can they oppose the constitution, he asked. He described as blunt and damaging. Mr. Gandhi’s statement in Darjeeling regarding the decision of Nepalese living in India and his reported refusal to concede the demand for the formation of Gorkhaland.
