NEW DELHI, Jan. 9, India: Security is being tightened at the Taj Mahal to prevent a communal attack on the famous Indian Monument of Love, an Indian newspaper said today.

The respected Statesman newspaper said authorities in the northern town of Agra had decided to reinforce police guard deployed around the marble monument.

The measures include a ban on tourists taking photographs inside the 17th century monument built by a heartbroken Moghul Emptor, Shah Jehan, to honor his dead wife, Mumtaj Mahal.

The newspaper did not identify the specifically name the likely attackers but Hindu fanatics have been claiming the monument to be an old Hindu temple.
