Amritsar: Unknown assailants attacked a place about twenty miles from Amritsar and fired indiscriminately at the victims. One person died on the spot while two others succumbed on reaching the hospital. Three more persons were also wounded and their condition is stated to be serious, after a comparative lull, violence has again erupted in the troubled state of Punjab. Curiously the attacks are directed against known BJP workers and leaders. Evidently the purpose appears to be to further strain the relations between the Hindus and Sikhs the traditional allies against the Congress (1) party in the State.
