Nowadays no one is indifferent to Homeopathy, On the one hand there are those who are skeptical or even ‘who are Staunchly opposed to it. On other hand we find those who are firmly in favor of it or who go so far as to have a kind of mystical belief in it.
Curiously enough, however, none of the a boy are able to define it exactly:
For some of them Homeopathy is the treatment of pain with pain, For others it is herbal medicine, For still othersitisa form or therapy based on small doses, and for a great number of people (because of the small doses Involved), it is nothing more than a quack form of medicine aimed at the ‘gullible. In this first introduction I will try to explain what the real situation is: Definition: Homeopathy is a Therapeutic Method which clinically applies the Law of Similar and which uses medicinal substances in weak or Infinitesimal Doses.”
The Law of Similar The law of similar is the formulation of a physiological state of things which had already been observed 25 centuries ago by Hypocrites and his school.
Even at that time, the existence of a similarity between the toxicological action of the substance and its therapeutic action had been observed. Cantharis tincture, which toxicologically caused cystitis and hematuria, ‘was used in small doses to treat cystitis, which at that time was known as ‘strangely.”
The the oracular language of his time, Hypocrites said “The orangery which is no, cures the stranger which is “or more generally speaking:
“The same things which cause the disease cure it”
In the centuries that followed, other doctors made similar observations, but did not come to any practical conclusions.
It was not until the end of the 18th century (around 1790) that a German Physician, Christian Samuel Hahnemann (who was also a chemist and a toxicologist) further studied the question,
He observed that cinchona, a remedy, which at that time was used to treat certain types of malarial fever, toxicologically caused attack of fever similar to those against which it was the rapcutically used. As he was well-acquainted with the work of the Hippocratic school, he concluded: It would appear that remedies are capable of curing symptoms analogous to those which they themselves produce.
‘This, however, was only a hypothesis which needed to be verified. He therefore set to work! He began by experimenting Upon: himself and those around him with every medicinal substance known at that time cinchona, aconite, Bella donna, ipecac, mercury, etc., order to familiarize himself with the pharmacodynamics action, when administered to healthy people.
Having determined what These actions were, he then tried substances out as therapeutic agents on ill patients who displayed symptoms similar to those induced in healthy people undergoing experimentation. He observed that his hypothesis was correct, but only when very weak doses were used. Thus Tpecac in large doses Causes Nausea. and vomiting in healthy people, In ‘small doses it cures nausea in patinas suffering from syspepsia.
Bee’s yenom, when administered to healthy people, causes a sudden onset of pinkish red stinging, burning odoma which is relieved by or cures stinging, burning corruptions of sudden onset which are relieved by cold compresses, but which have another origin, e.g. sunstroke or suddenly occurring toxic or alimentary urticarial.
Thus by prcat deal of experimentation, Hehnemann was able to observe. that the hypothesis he had initially formulated was proved to be consistently true, It was therefore no longer amere hypothesis but rather a law of nature, a general biological law, Known as the Law of Similars, which may be divided into three pans.
Part 1, All pharmacologically active substances cause a of symptoms characteristic of the substance used When said substance is administered to healthy people. (This was the result Of his experiments involving healthy people), Part 2. All sick people display a set ‘of morbid symptoms which are characteristic of their disease. These morbid’ symptoms, may be obtained by Prescribing, in weak doses, the substance whose experimental symptoms in healthy people are similar to those symptoms displayed by the ill patients.
Homeopathic remedies provide relief from migraines, coughs, colds, flu, PMS, hay fever, diarrhea, hot flashes, insomnia, anxiety, depression and many other ailments without harmful side effects, Minute quantities of substances, natural derivatives of plants, animals and minerals, which may be poisonous in their whole state, are placed in solution and diluted many times until the chemical substances are gone. The essence or energy, as it is now referred to is all that remains and this is nontoxic.
The diluted solution is vigorously shaken, a process called potentization, this poetized solution is matched up with the substance in the body causing symptoms, In somewhat the same manner that a vaccine works, the body’s own defenses are stimulated to fight off the disease causing symptoms. Homeopathic medicine is a (w) holistic medicine, treating the whole person, beginning from within the mind reaching out toward the organs and skin, As a sense of wellbeing prevails, physical symptoms may increase following the proper progression of homeopathic healing.
In accordance with the ordering of healing a re-experiencing of symptoms from many years before it may ‘occur at some point until all symptoms are cured leaving a higher level ‘Of sensual health.
