NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao, is reported to have indicated to his senior Cabinet colleagues, Dr. Balram Jakhar and Ghulam Nabi Azad to spare their services for party work to strengthen the ‘organization in view of ensuing general elections.
The Union Agriculture Minister, Dr. Jakhar and the Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, Azad, had separate meetings with the Prime Minister before his departure on his 11 day foreign visit. In fact, Azad had two rounds of talks with the Prime Minister while Jakhar met him soon after the Cabinet meeting last week.
That Azad’s services are expected to be utilized for a crucial assignment in Kashmir became clear when the PM called for him after getting into his aircraft at the time of departure. Although the ramp of the aircraft had been removed and it was about take off. Azad was summoned inside by the PM.
