WASHINGTON: The Annual report released by the U.S. State Department about international terrorism, blames Iran as the “Premier State sponsor of worldwide terrorism.” Not only Iran is aiding radical Islamic groups in North Africa and Central Asia, it also is involved in planning and execution of Iranian dissidents abroad. Report reveals that Iran killed seven dissidents during 1995 and four in 1994.

The report also includes Syria as a terrorism sponsoring state Inspite of diplomatic contacts, with the U.S. ‘geared toward ending killing in neighboring Lebanon and the peace process with Israel. Others who are mentioned are Cuba, North Korea, Sudan, Iraq and Libya.

However, fatalities from international terrorism have dropped from 314 in 1994 to 165 in 1995, Report concludes that international cooperation and various sorts of sanctions against Iraq and Libya were the reason for ‘a decline in terrorism related killings, But international terrorist acts rose from 322 to 440 mainly because of Kurds’ attacks in Turkey and attack, on the properties owned by immigrants in Germany.
