CHANDIGARH: Thirteen people, have been killed on Oct 7.

The Director General of Punjab police, K P S Gill told the Press Trust of India Sunday that 5 men were killed in a shootout with security forces and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was seized in Deriwal village in Amritsar district Sunday afternoon.

‘The security men, who were carrying out a search operation in the village, were attacked, Five men were killed in retaliatory fire by the security forces,

The arms seized included one general purpose machine gun, 1 SLR, 1 Ak47 Chinese assault rifle, 1 pistol and with a huge quantity of ammunition.

The bullet riddled body of a govt official Raghubir Chand, was found in Sangra village on the outskirts of Amritsar Sunday. He had earlier been kidnapped.

Gurdev Singh was shot in Dasu Majra village in Ropar district.

CHANDIGARH: Eleven people, were killed while militants made an abortive bid on the life of former Akali Dal (B) member of legislative assembly in Punjab.

Elsewhere in the state, Black Cats looted about Rs 50,000 and tried to blow up a special police Officer post. Security forces nabbed 3 men.

Balwant Singh Sarhal, former MLA, was wounded while his gunman Som Nath was killed when fired at near Village Sarhal in Jalandhar dist.

Another gunman of Sarhal was injured in the attack.

A man wounded in a bomb blast in Gurdaspur, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

Another man, Jagdev Singh, ‘was killed in an encounter with security forces in the border dist. of Amritsar.

Also shot dead was Gurmej Singh and his father in law at their House in village Sheru Bagga in

“Majitha dist. seven militants including a Lt. Gen of the Khalistan Commando Force, were among 22 persons killed on Oct 5.

Two persons were kidnapped and four arrested in the state during this period.

Jaswinder Singh Maniala, carrying a reward of Rs. Five Lakh on his head, and his associate Rajinder Singh were killed in an encounter with security forces in historic Rambagh garden in Amritsar city.

Sanjeev Gupta, Amritsar police chief, said that Jaswinder Singh, the right hand man of Paramjit Singh Panjwar, KCF chief, earlier made an abortive attempt to commit a bank dacoity on the Majitha road.

 The dacoity attempt was foiled by the bank guard who was killed.

One Mauzer some empty and live cartridges, currency notes a with stamp of Syndicate Bank, 2 scooters and a pill of cyanide were seized from the killed men

Twelve people died on Oct 4.                                                                           

Miscreants shot at an injured 5 people in separate incidents and set ablaze a bus while security forces foiled an attack in the state during the period.

They shot dead local leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Indian farmer’s union) Charanjit Singh, at his home.

They also lobbed a hand grenade at the home of Pargat Singh killing him on the spot and injuring four members of his family.

Assistant Sub Inspector Lakhbir Singh posted at Tarn Taran was shot dead by nationalists at his home in Gali Sandhuan Wali Wednesday night.

Two women Dalbir Kaur and Harbans Kaur were killed at Sirhali village in Tarn Taran police district. A civilian was killed in the crossfire during a shootout between a paramilitary party and nationalists near Sudhar village in Ludhiana district.

Also gunned down was a wrestler, Gumam Singh, after kidnapping him from his house in Mirgandpura village in Amritsar district.

Security forces recovered 2 bullet riddled bodies near Kandial village in Batala police district and one from near Bans Kalan village in Ludhiana district.

2 killed in Delhi blast

NEW DELHI: At least 2 persons were killed and 3 injured when a powerful bomb exploded inside a three wheeler auto rickshaw in East Delhi.
