DHAKA (PTI): At least nine people were killed and more than 250 injured, some of them seriously, when a severe north westerly and hailstorm swept over Bangladesh’s four districts May 6, Bengali daily Sangbad reported Friday.

The storm which ripped through Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Pagnaand Manikganj district damaged more than 3,000 dwellings besides uprooting trees and killing herds of catue.

Four country boats, one loaded with rice capsized in the rivers Padma and Jamuna during the storm which disrupted power supply in various parts of the country.
