TORONTO: Provincial Governments new proposal to save more than $215 million may leave hundreds of doctors unemployed. According to Dr.Michael Thobum, President of the Ontario medical association, ‘Under the proposal, new general practioners, Pediatricians, family Physicians and new Psychiatrists in major urban areas will be paid 75% Tess; Because 40 to 45% of a doctor’s gross billing is spent on office Overheads, there would be no way fora Physician to make a living said Dr.Lisa Moore. Ontario’s 22000 Physicians will lose 25% of their income if this proposal becomes effective, paying new doctors less is one of the many proposals designed to decrease doctors payments by 600 million under finance minister Floyd Laughren’s cutbacks.
