CHANDIGARH: Four Punjab Police Officers, including an Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and a Superintendent of Police (SP), have been placed under suspension following orders from the Supreme Court, for alleged involvement in case of custodial death of a relative of Shaheed, Bhagat Singh in 1989. ‘Those who have been suspended are AIG (training) Ajit Singh Sandhu, SP (Operations) SPS Basra, DSP (Patiala Police Lines), Jaspal Singh and Sub Inspector Sita Ram.

The case relates to the alleged abduction and later death in custody of Kuljit Singh Dhatt in 1989. He was the sarpanch of Village Ambala Jattan and a director of the Bhoopur Sugar Mill in Hoshiarpur district.
