MADRAS: Twenty-six members of the dominant militant Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were killed in an encounter with the citizens volunteer force (CVF) on the Vavuniya-Mannar road in northern Sri Lanka on Wednesday, the Eelam people’s revolutionary liberation front (EPRLF) said in a Press release here Thursday,

The EPRLF, which rules Sri Lanka’s northeastern province, said the tractor in which the LTTE cadres were traveling was also destroyed, The CVF did not suffer any causality, the release added.

Ina combined attack by the Sri Lankan Army and the LTTE on the CVF at Cheddikularm in Vavuniya district early Thursday, several persons were killed, the release said. The CVF found 13 corpses, of LITE men, it added,
