Lagos, Nigeria — Twenty-two people burned to death in two highway accidents in Nigeria this week, the state-run Daily Times said today.

Seventeen people died when a bus overturned and burst into flames in north central Kaduna state Tuesday, the newspaper said, quoting the government information department in the town of Zaria in north central Kaduna state.

Only the driver survived, the report said. The charred bodies of the victims were taken to the mortuary of a teaching hospital in Zaria, it said.

On Thursday, five people traveling on the Ibadan Lagos expressway burned to death when their van and four other vehicles crashed into a stalled container truck, the Times reported.
