NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has told the Beijing Asian Games Organisers that India may pull out of the forthcoming games if its list is not accepted in its entirety, according to information received from the Chinese capital.

When contacted, the IOA secretary general, Roshan Lal Anand, told PTI here that IOA’s insistence on all nominations included that of officials to accompany the contingent. 2

Anand said the Beijing Asian games Organising committee (Bagoc) had to decide whether it accepts the advice of the two international Olympic committee (IOC) members in India, who neither represent any federation in India nor play any role worth mentioning in development of sports in the country, or goes by the national Olympic committee which is recognized by the democratically elected government in India and courts of law.

Anand said Bagoc had so far been cooperative with us and we, on our part, ensured that entries by number and name were sent by the due rates. The fees for the accommodation of the Indian contingent amounting to 1, 22,500 U.S. dollars was also sent well in time. They (Bagoc) have also been honoring all the accreditations issued over my signature as secretary general of IOA, he said.

But, Anand said, when a specific question was put to them on September one requesting confirmation that our nominations of chef demission and others would be accepted, they did not reply and, rather, sent telex massages to the two IOC members, Anand added.
