BRASILIA: Superstar Zico, one of all time soccer greats of Brazil, has been named as future sports secretary by president elect Fernando Collor De Mello.

The 37 year old Collor De Mello called Coimbra, known worldwide by soccer fans by his nickname Zico will take up his new post after Color De Mello’s inauguration on March 15.

The former star center forward said he accepted the job because I want to fight for what I think, for what I believe for what I already started when I played soccer.

A veteran of 22 years of play on the Brazilian selection, Zico retired from the Flamengo Club on Feb 6.

Married with three children Zico is considered the second greatest soccer star in Brazil after Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes Do Nascimiento. Zico played 89 games with the national team winning 65, tying 19 and losing 5.
