CHANDIGARH, India: The office bearers of youth wing of Akali Dall of the party’s unit at Chandigarh resigned from their posts on the call of Acting Jathedar of Akal Takht. While the announcement of dissolution of youth wing was made by its President Prem Singh Chandumajara who is also Cooperation Minister in the Barnala ministry, the decision regarding quitting the office in the union territory office was announced by Joginder Singh Sawhney, President and Amarjit Singh Sarna and Gurcharan Singh Lamba, General Secretary.

The meeting of the office bearers of the youth wing accepted the supremacy of Akal Takht. In a resolution it said that it was prepared to accept every directive of the Head Priest to bring about Panthic unity. It was decided to send the resignation of Prem Singh from youth wing to the Head Priest. The meeting was attended by Ajit Singh Jhabal, Inderjit Singh, Pritpal Singh, Amarjit Singh, and others. The union territory Akali Dal meeting was attended by Sawhney, Sarna, Lamba and other office bearers. It was unanimously resolved that all office bearers, members of executive and other workers should resign as directed by Akal Takht Jathedar. The decision was intimated telegraphically to Akal Takht Chief.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the parliamentary wing of Akali Dal (B) was held with Amarinder Singh’s chair. It commended the steps taken by the Head Priest to bring about Panthic unity and appealed to all M.L.A.s and M.P.s who are elected on Akali ticket to bow before the verdict of the Head Priest and offer their services to them in the interest of Panth and Punjab. Mrs. Gurbinder Kaur Brar, leader of Congress (1) appreciated the bold stand taken by Surjit Singh Barnala for the sake of unity, integrity and democratic structure of the country.
