STOCKTON, CA: The bhog of the Akhand path commemorating five years of World Sikh News was a largely attended function here at the Pacific Coast Khalsa Diwan Society Gurdwara on Sunday.

Blessings were asked of the Waheguru to make WSN stronger and successful in its endeavor, Blessings were also sought for all the militants fighting in Punjab as ‘well as those in jail for the cause, in particular Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda, and Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha now under a death sentence in Pune jail, The ardas prayed for release of Bhai Ranjit Singh Gill and Bhai Sukhminder Singh Sandhu in New York jail.

The former WSO chief, S. Didar Singh Bains congratulated WSN and said efforts to promote the paper would be redoubled. The attack on the Golden Temple was to eradicate Sikhism he said. ‘The same year 1984 saw the formation of the WSO and the launching of the WSN. He said he was happy to see the progress of both.

Dr. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon, President of the WSO, spoke eloquently on the Sikh struggle for Khalistan which he said would culminate in success. He appealed to Sikhs all over to back this movement whole heartedly. He said freedom could not be achieved without sacrifices and paid homage to the martyrs of the Sikh nation.

  1. Bakshish Singh, secretary of the Gurdwara Sahib, Sacramento narrated the story of continuing repression in Punjab. He said during a recent visit he saw all the gurdwaras surrounded by security forces. There were security checks before anyone was allowed even into the Golden Temple, he said.
  2. Charanjit Singh Bath appealed to support WSN.
  3. Amarjit Singh of the Bay area said it was now time to free Sikhism from the evils of Brahmanism.
  4. Kewal Singh, President of the Gurdwara here, S. Amarjit Singh the officiating secretary and S.M.S. Grewal of San Joaquin congratulated the WSN and exhorted it to further success.
  5. Gurinder Singh Grewal MD., of WSN, thanked the sangat and said no effort would be spared to make WSN better to serve the Sikhs all over. He spoke on behalf of S. Narinder Singh Somal, secretary WSN, S. Harbhajan S, SherGill, MD., S. Amrik Singh Gill and S. Hardyal Singh Dhatt in saying the Sikh struggle would be supported till it was successful.
