JAMMU: A known winter, Sarwanand Premi and his son were killed in Kashmir while a huge cache of arms and ammunition were seized by security forces in five km belt along the border Wednesday according to Indian Govt sources.
Official sources said that the bodies of Premi and his son Virender were found in Devpora locality of South Kashmir township of Anantnag Tuesday.
Premi (65), who was also a freedom fighter and a noted broadcaster was called out of his residence and hanged by the militants, the sources said. His son was also killed in a similar manner. Premi, who was respected by all communities for his secular and progressive outlook was a reputed Kashmiri poet who was authored several books besides translating. Bhagwant Gita in Kashmir language.
Meanwhile, security forces seized arms and ammunition being brought from Pakistan occupied Kashmir in the five Km belt along, the North West border of the valley.
They included eight Ak-47 rifles, one multipurpose machine gun with two rounds of magazine, 11 pistols, and one rocket launcher with four rockets, 50 hand grenades, 40 anti-personnel mines and 50 packets of explosives.
