NEW DELHI: The U.S Ambassador to India, William Clarke, began his four day tour of Punjab and Chandigarh.
In an informal chat with newsmen he said he had come to Punjab with an open mind. His report would help the US govt to frame its policy towards India.
The violation of human rights had always agitated the American mind. The govt could not afford to harm its citizens, He added that his govt was opposed to terrorism and was committed to the unity and territorial integrity of India.
He said India and Pakistan must resolve their differences in accordance with the Simla agreement. He ruled out a war on the subcontinent.
