NEW DELHL: More and more Territorial Army units equipped with sophisticated weapons like the antitank missiles would be inducted in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Assam.
“There are already 18 TA battalions deployed in operation “Rakshak”, as the anti-militancy operations are codenamed in Kashmir and Punjab and operation “Rhino” in Assam, additional rector general, territorial army (LA), Maj Gen Kapoor told newsmen here Monday.
Besides this, the territorial army which comprises mostly civilians who don bate fatigues part time are planning to raise banking battalions so as to run banks insurgency prone areas like Kashmir and Punjab, Kapoor said.
De Klerk’s apology
JOHANNESBURG: South African president F.W. De Kletk, for the first time since coming to owner two years ago, apologized for the hurt inflicted by more than 40 years of apartheid.
De Klerk made what is seen as a “condolatory gesture” in an in review with Japans biggest newspaper, the Asahi Shimbum and the Tokyo broadcasting corporation.
