FRANKFURT GERMANY: In a huge show of solidarity with foreigners more than 400000 people demonstrated in two German cities to protest violence by radical rightists.

More than two dozen performers and groups staged a huge Open-air rock concert free of charge in Frankfurt to protest rising xenophobia in Germany. Organizers and police said more than 150000 people attended.

In Hamburg police said more than 250000 people held candles in a show of solidarity with foreigners and against the neo-Nazi violence

Earlier all players on the country’s top professional soccer teams and many of the hundreds of thousands of fans attending the matches wore shirts inscribed “I have a friend who is a foreigner.”

Since a neo-Nazi arson attack killed a Turkish grandmother and two girls in the northern town of Moelln on Nov.23 hundreds of thousands of Germans regularly have taken to the streets to protest the rising tide of violence by rightwing extremists.
