ALLAHABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today rejected Prime Minister V.P. Singh’s plan to postpone the Ram Temple construction program by three months, but indicated their willingness for direct talks to settle the dispute.
The VHP spokesman and former Director General of Police S.C. Dixit told the Sant Sammelan here that the talks would have to be concluded between Feb 5 and Feb 7 and the Government nominee must be fully empowered to take a decision.
Satisfied by the SOS sent by the Prime Minister for a direct meeting within hours of the decision to begin construction of the temple, VHP stalwarts told an apprehensive crowd that there is absolutely no question of our postponing the meeting.
Rajmata Scinda of Gwalior one of BJP’s most powerful leaders, sent a message to the Sammelan saying that “she would be in the front line of Ram bhakts when they started construction,”
