LUDHIANA: The International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) has asked the US administration to direct its embassy in Delhi not to issue visa to K.P.S. Gill, former Director of Punjab Police, as it will send a wrong message worldwide that the USA has diluted its priority on human rights.
‘The IHRO Chairperson D.S. Gill an urgent appeal faxed to Ms. Robin Raphel, Assistant Secretary of State, said: “the reported move of K.P.S.Gill to seek visa to visit USA has come to the THRO as a source of great concern and worry, The visa, if granted, will give him legitimacy as a routine visitor, whereas this mans’ hands are soiled with the blood of thousands of Sikhs in Punjab.”
“KP.S. Gill should have been tried by an international jury for the crimes ‘against humanity on a scale perpetrated by some of the Nazi criminals. In Europe,” the IHRO said and reminded the Secretary of State, Mr. Warren Christopher, that during his tenure as Police chief in Punjab, Gill had not even spared the lives of political leaders, journalists, human rights activists and lawyers.
The latest case is of Akali Dal human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
