PATIALA: The U.A.D. (Mann group) has decided to contest SGPC elections which are scheduled to be held on November 30. Addressing the new-men the secretary general of the group Mr. Charanjit Singh Walia, a Member of Parliament said that the decision was taken by the Presidium at a meeting at Fetah Garh Sahib. He told that a four member subcommittee comprising Baba Joginder Singh Atma Singh, Such a Singh Chhotepur and Bhai Ajit Singh, has been formed to deal with the SGPC elections. He said that the efforts will be made to hold the unanimous elections in accordance with the wishes of the detained president of the group, Mr. Simranjit Singh Mann.

Mr. Walia said that a detained AISSF General Secretary S. Harmohinder Singh Sandhu has been appointed member of the presidium, with this nomination, the strength of the presidium went up to thirteen. He also announced the appointment of three more general secretaries including Such a Singh Chhotepur Gurtej Singh, an ex IAS officer and Ranjit Singh Brahmpura. However S. Gurtej Singh in a statement said that he was not a party to the decision. He said that he would not accept the offer.

Replying to a question Mr. Walia said that Harcharan Singh Rode was never appointed as general secretary of the party. He also told that all presidium members will also be the members of the working committee. He pointed out that his party does not recognize Prof. Darshan Singhas the chief of Akal Takhat. Mr. Walia also denied that Baba Joginder Singh has been appointed as the acting chief of the party.
