NEW DELHI, Oct 3, Reuter: At least 23 people, including 13 children were killed in torrential rains lashing Bombay, the Press Trust of India reported on Monday.
Among those killed was a police inspector electrocuted as he tried to pull a man from under a fallen electricity cable.
Most were killed by walls collapsing under the weight of nearly 20 cm (eight inches) of rain which lashed the city over the 24 hour period ending on Monday morning, the agency said.
‘The rain paralyzed India’ financial capital. Cancellation of a number of suburban trains left commuters with no way to get to work and few buses ventured onto the streets.
At least two flights were diverted from Bombay s busy international airport.
