Aug.14, 1991: Total Strike in Punjab for two days 1415 Aug. paralyses life in Punjab. Strike was called to boycott Independence Day celebrations.

Aug.l5, 1924: Tenth Shahidi Jatha of 500 Akali Satyagra his court arrested at Jaito. 1947: India’s freedom resulted in death of 200,000 Sikhs in an unparalleled migration of Sikhs from Pakistan to East Punjab. The homeland of Sikhs was bifurcated. 1969:S.Pheruman Singh began a fast in prison, to protest against exclusion of Chandigarh from Punjab.

1981; Dal Khalsa volunteers gathered in a Gurdwara and saluted the flag of

Khalistan.

1984 :( i) Two Sikhs killed by police in

Amritsar.

(i) Sikhs hoisted Khalistan flags in many villages and pasted posters supporting Khalistan,

1985(i) Khalistan Flag hoisted by AISSF Students lodged in Jullundur jail.

Aug.17, 1984: Police arrested many prominent Sikh leaders and took steps to extend Presidential rule in Punjab.

Aug.20, 1982 :( i) Darbara Singh, chief minister of Khalistan escapes explosion at Rahon in Jullundur dist.

(ii)Museebat Singh shot dead by commandos for attempted hijacking of Indian airline Boing in Rajasthan.

1984: Hundreds of Sikh demonstrators disrupted a New York parade of India’s Independence Day celebration. Effigy of Indira Gandhi smashed and Indian flag burnt whilst ralsing anti India Slogans.
