The 389th anniversary of the first installation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib was celebrated on Sept.19 at Gurdwara Sahib of Kitchener- Ont. After Bhog ceremony. of Akhand Path, the ragi jatha of Bh.Satnam Singh performed the Shabad Kirtan. Then S.Gurdev Singh Sangha spoke about the compilation history and the significance of Guru Granth Sahib as the Shabad Guru. Prof. Pritam Singh Grewal dwelt on the unique- ness, universality and relevance of Guru Granth Sahib’s message. A Shabd in praise of the Guru was sung by Sharanjit Kaur, Reminder Kaur and Jatha, The Sikh representation at the opening ceremonies of the new City Hall of Kitchener On Sept.19 the Sikh community was impressively represented during the official opening ceremonies of the new Kitchener City Hall, Before an audience of about 500 people from different faiths and cultures, the Shabad Kirtan of “Lakh Khushian Patshahian.,” was’ performed by Punam K.Ahuja, Sonal K.Oza, Gurpreet K.Chagger, Prabhjot Kaur and Hardeep Singh. Besides its trans: lation by Prof. P.S.Grewal,a brief introduction of Sikh community” was also given to the participants.
