BOMBAY (PTI): Indian teenage batting star Sachin Tendulkar last week expressed happiness over his appointment as the vice-Captain of the Indian team for the forthcoming Sn Lankan tour. “I am very much pleased and would love to play my part,” the 20yearold batting prodigy said.

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, who has already grabbed world attention with his exploits which include five centuries (all made abroad) in 25 tests, said he never expected to be the vice-captain at this stage,

“Now that it has been given to me 1am not going to refuse it,” said Tendulkar who holds the twin Indian record of the youngest to play for the country in tests and the youngest (6 notch a test century.

The Bombay youngster, who drew attention even while in school with a world record partnership with Vinod Kambli, made his debut in the senior Indian team during the 1989 tour of Pakistan where he defied the fearsome pace from the likes of Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar.
