CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab minister Tej Parkash Singh, a son of slain Chief Minister Beant Singh, faces political uncertainty with the decision of the Election Commission not to hold by-elections from constituencies where normal elections are doc within a year. Tej Parkash Singh was inducted into the Harcharan Singh Brar Ministry following the assassination of his father. He ran out his six-month tenure in the ministry on March 9 because by-elections could not be held during that period. It was expected that by-elections would be held with the Lok Sabha elections but the Election Commission’s decision has stamped out that possibility.

‘The dissidents, who had alleged that the Brar Government had deliberately Soft paddled on taking up the issue of holding by-elections, say that Brar cannot afford to ignore Beant Singh’s family, They say that they will take up the issue with the party high command shortly.
