Bhatinda — Mr. Jagdev Singh Talwandi president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (T), has said that his party was opposed to referring the Anandpur Sahib resolution to the Sarkaria Commission.

Mr. Talwandi told a press conference here on Thursday that unless all demands made at the Hola Mohalla celebrations at Anandpur Sahib were conceded and direct talks on the basis of the solemn pledges given to the Sikhs before independence no solution to the Punjab tangle was possible.

He also alleged that certain Akali leaders were misrepresenting the resolution which he said was for more powers for the state and other demands of the Sikhs. Mr. Talwandi said he was for separate electorates and personal laws for the Sikhs and added that he would not allow any compromise with the Government for the sake of power.
