AMRITSAR: The five Sikh high priests have summoned the president of the All India Sikh Students Federation (Gill). Harminder Singh Gill, to the Akal Takht on January 17. He has been called to give his version on the division of the federation, which was unified by the Akal Takht last year. The incident occurred a day after more than 250,00 Sikhs gathers at a rally in Punjab. The crowd shouted “Shame, Shame,” as speakers told the group Saturday that the government in the northern state was still imprisoning political leaders who wanted an independent Sikh homeland. Although the decade-old Sikh separatist insurrection has been crushed, some have continued attacks. More than 25.000 people have been killed in the violence in Punjab.
