AMRITSAR: On Aug.30, the SGPC president, Gurcharan Singh Tohra and the secretary, Manjit Singh Calcutta alleged that the Akal Takht chief, Bhai Ranjit Singh was not being treated properly in the Tihar Jail, Dethi.
In a joint statement, they said that Bhai Ranjit Singh was being denied proper facilities as per his status. The jail authorities are treating him like an ordinary prisoner. He is kept either in a small room or with other prisoners.
A deputation of the Sikh organizations, they said, had met the 1.G. (Prisons), Kiran Bedi, recently, gul She refused to listen to them.
They warmed the jail authorities against causing any physical or mental torture to Bhaji Ranjit Singh.
It may be called that Bhai Ranjit Singh was convicted and awarded: life imprisonment in the assassination cast of the Nirankari Chief, Baba Gurbachan Singh and has bodyguard.
