SRINAGAR: The Sri Nagar distirct police chief Mr. Ram Lubaya escaped an attempt on his like He three people were killed and militants arrested in the Kashmir valley on Saturday.

They accused the BSF troops of using rifle butts and kicking residents who include journalist’s senior officers of the state and central government besides the local youth.
Official sources said militants lobbed two hand grenades on the motorcade of Mr. Lubaya Hazrat Bal on the outskirts of Srinagar city. However the grenades missed the vehicle and exploded on the roadside without causing any damage.
Mr Lubaya confirmed the incident and said the grenade lobbed by militants exploded seconds after his motorcade passed the area_ There have been about a dozen such attacks on his motorcade in Srinagar and its outskirts in the past he added. Sources said the attack on Mr Lubayas motor cade-came close on the heels of the threat recently issued by the Pro-Pakistani al Jehad to attack Jammu and Kashmir police jeeps. The outfit had ordered its activists to attack police vehicles to counter the police activities
