CHANDIGARH: The general secretary of the Sikh Students Federation (Manjit faction), Bhupinder Singh Longian, was among 28 people killed in Punjab Dec 27.
Claiming the responsibility for killing Longian, the Babar Khalsa International said in a press release here that the body of Bhupinder Singh Longian was lying in the fields near village Ghumand Gach in Patiala district.
The police, however, did not confirm this but said that the Sikh Student Federation leader was kidnapped by some unknown persons on Thursday night and his whereabouts were still not known.
The Babar Khalsa international accused Bhupinder Singh of promoting factionalism in the militant ranks.
The militant organisations press release also claimed the killing of four other persons—Major Singh, an activist of SSF, CID inspector Balbir Singh, Jug raj Singh and Amarjit Singh. The police has recovered the bodies of Jug raj Singh and Major Singh.
The others killed included a prominent CPIM leader, six militants and five security personnel,

Three unidentified scooter borne militants were killed in an. encounter with security forces near village Duala in Farid kot district on Thursday night. One A. k. 47 rifle two revolvers and some ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Jagir Singh Kaulseriasa CPI (M) leader was shot dead by some militant a at his residence Sangrur district on Thursday night. His gunman was also killed in the incident.
