BANGKOK Reuter: A controversial drop goal award in the last minute of play enabled South Korea to beat defending champions Japan 24-22 and snatch the Asian Rugby Football Championship title.

Trailing 9-12 at halftime and 21-22 a minute before the final Whistle Korea went ahead when fly half Sin Chang Kyu attempted a 30 yard drop goal. The ball fell short of the crossbar but English referee Peter Wakefield signaled the kick was good.
