SANTAGATA BOLOG— NESE, Italy, Reuter: Italian manufacturer Lamborghini plans to make its debut in formula one motor racing next year, a company statement said today.

Lamborghini is working on an engine for a new racing car which will be produced under a joint venture with Chrysler of the U.S., the company said.

No details of the new engine or car were released.

Lamborghini, known for its exotic and expensive road going cars, entered motor sport for the first time last year, providing a car for Italian Mauro Baldi and Briton Tiff Needell in the World Sports Car Championship.

JAKARTA, Reuter: Defending Champion the Soviet Union and Canada will slug it out for team honors tomorrow in the President’s Cup World Amateur Boxing Championships after their boxers stormed through the semifinals.

The Soviet Union, who has won this annual tournament five times since it began a decade ago, will have six boxers in the final. Canada, making their first appearance fields five.

TORONTO, Canada: The Canadian Olympic Association (COA) today endorsed Toronto’s bid to host the 1992 Summer Olympics, which mark the Centennial of the modern Olympics.

COA President Roger Jackson told a news conference that Toronto could meet criteria like financing, transport and community support for the games. ;

“It is the quickest decision we have ever made,” he said.

The endorsement means Toronto, Canada’s largest city, can in other cities, including Athens, in lobbying the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the games.

The IOC will select the site at a September 1990 meeting in Tokyo. Other bidders are expected to include Belgrade, Birmingham and possibly a US. city.

Canada previously hosted the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal.
