COLOMBO, AUG. 4, REUTER — Six Indian soldiers were killed by a Tamil rebel landmine in an eastern Sri Lanka village, police said on Thursday.

An Indian high commission (embassy) spokesman confirmed they were killed when their vehicle was blown up on Wednesday night but said she was unable to say whether the explosion was from a guerrilla landmine.

Police said the incident occurred at Pullumalai Village in Batticaloa district.
