TORONTO: The Indian Minister for Transport and Tourisms visit to Canada was marked by a black flag demonstration by Canadian Sikhs protesting against his active involvement in the massacre of thousands of Sikhs in Delhi in Nov.1984.

The demonstrators who had turned up in by the hundreds shouted slogans calling Tyler “Murderer of innocent Sikhs” a “Nazi Indian” and carried banners criticizing the Indian Government for its repression of Sikhs in Punjab and the massacre of Sikhs in 1984.

Tyler, who was a Congress MP in 1984 at the time of Indira Gandhi’s assassination, was actively involved in inciting crowds of Congress workers and gangs of looters specially brought by him in hired transport to kill Sikhs and destroy their property in Delhi.

Along with other Congress MPs like H.K.L.Bhagat, Sajjan Kumar and Makkan, he led the Congress mobs to finish off Sikhs in Delhi. Thousands of Sikhs were killed in this massacre which the Sikh world community will never forget.

However, Rajiv Gandhi rewarded Tyler and his like by making them ministers in his government. Ever since then, Inspite of many charges of Governments, not a single one of these murderers has been brought to justice. On the other hand, a reign of terror was instituted in Punjab and thousands of Sikh youth fighting for a free Sikh homeland have been killed.

Tyler who was provided heavy police security will always be an enemy to the Sikhs, The demonstrating Sikhs in Toronto made this known to the Canadian government and submitted a memo less than the Nazi murderers of random to the Prime Minister, Bob Hitler’s regime. The memoranda was received by a senior of the government they appreciated the Sikh stand and regretted that a mistake had been made in inviting Tyler to Canada as head of the trade delegation.

Earlier. Addressing the demon demonstrators, leaders of the Sikh organizations in Canada criticized the Indian government for its violations of human rights in Punjab where Sikhs were being systematically decimated. Any Sikh voicing the demand for Independence was being considered a traitor and made a target of police harassment, They called for the arrest of the blood smeared Tyler and suspension of aid to India, Among those who addressed the demonstrators were Gurdey Singh Gill of IHRO, Sukhminder Singh Hansra of *Ankhila Punjab and Inderjit Singh Bal of World Sikh

‘Org. Amarjit Singh of International Sikh Youth Federation, as well as members of the Gurdwaras Committees. Of all Gurdwaras of Toronto and neighboring townships, who participated in the demonstrations, Sikhs of all ages, senior citizens, men and women, young people and children participated and their thundering slogans against the black deeds of Tyler and the Indian government could be heard for many blocks.
