PALATINE: Sikh Religious Society of Chicago which manages a Gurdwara in Palatine Illinois joined the village of Palatine in celebrating the village’s 125th (Quasqui-Centennial) anniversary of incorporation. A Heritage Festival was organized on May 25 & 26 In Palatine park district where ethnic foods arts and crafts and continuous entertainment with music and folk dancing showcased the ethnic diversity of the village which was incorporated in 1866 with a handful of settlers. U.S. Congressman Philip Crane and village president Rita Mullins cut a large birthday cake for the village and spoke at the opening ceremonies.

Culture bus tours of the historical places of Palatine were also conducted and the Sikh Gurdwara was one of the highlights A double decker bus took visitors around Original homes into town many more events like civil war encampment and village family picnic have been planned according to Rajinder Singh Mago and Mohinder jit Singh Saini of Sikh Religious Society who are members of the Palatine heritage celebration committee. Our participation has generated a lot of goodwill for our community amongst the local citizens added Mr. Mago.
