WASHINGTON D.C.: The symbol of the Sikhs, the turban was evident at the inauguration of the 4 1st president of the United States of America here. To welcome George Bush as the new president, the Sikhs attended these ceremonies in Kesri turbans. Besides the many Sikhs who were without turbans, some of them were conspicuous because of their turbans, Amongst those were Sardar Didar Singh Bains and his wife Santi Bains of Yuba City, S, Charanjit S. Batth (Fresno), S. Arjinderpaul Sekhon (L.A.), S. Avtar S. Dhaliwal (TN), S. Sujan Singh (Kansas) and S. Gurmeet S. Aulakh.
The presence of these Sikhs at official dinner parties was highly appreciated by the congressmen, who are very critical of the human. Rights violations by the Indian Government against the Sikh community.
