ONTARIO: With support from the local Sangat, and joint efforts of Cambridge Gurdwara management and Kitchener Punjabi Sunday school, the second Sikh Youth Diwan was held on Oct. 22 in Cambridge Gurughar. The two hour program organized by our Gurmatoriented promising youth comprised Gurbani Kirtan by 16 jathas and 5 speeches in pure Punjabi. Ardas and Hukamnama service was also done by them.

About 50 boys and girls aged 518 years from Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph cities participated. Sharanjit Kaur’s performance as M.C. was praiseworthy. Prof, P.S. Grewal (former Principal, Nankana Sahib Public School, and Kila Raipur) lauded the positive role of the children and their parents. He called upon the community to support and promote such youngsters by providing resources both in Punjabi and English to develop their own cultural awareness as Well bilingual proficiency. This will empower them and enhance their self-esteem.

  1. Gurdev Singh Sangha reminded’ the audience of the sacrifices made by the Sikh youth for the charhdi kala of Panth during our long struggle against injustice and oppression. He also remarked that the elders should pat the Canadian Sikh youth for their positive contribution to preserve our identity and values in adverse situations.
