AMRITSAR(PTI);A Sikh leader who was excommunicated from the fold about seven years ago for showing disrespect to Akal Takht on May 23 agreed to disband his political party as part religious punishment awarded to him for his re-induction into the Sikh *Panth

Rachhpal Singh president of the Akali Dal Master Tara Singh faction had sought forgiveness from the highest Sikh seat of Akal Takht for his religious misconduct and sought hi re-induction in the Sikh Panth in a letter to the acting head priest of Akal Takht Prof Manjit Singh on May 11 last.

Announcing the verdict of the five Sikh head priests Prof Manjit Singh directed Rachhpal Singh to suspend his political activities disband his Akali faction and join the main Sikh stream.

Rachhpal was also directed to perform Sewa (voluntary service) at the Golden Temple and two main Gurdwaras in) Delhi for one week each listen to Gurbani Kiran (recitation of Holy Sikh scriptures) dust shoes of devotees: and clean ulensils.in the community kitchens of these Gurdwaras and get Ardas (prayer) per formed there for his final forgiveness and re-entry Into Sikhism

Accepting the verdict Rachhpal Singh told newspersons he had disbanded his Akali faction with immediate effect and would urge party colleagues to end all political activities.
